When you live on a sailboat, there is lots of conversations about anchors. Most captains are particular about the brand, size and style of the anchor they come to depend on. Heated discussions about how an anchor failed to work or how much the captain prefers this type to that are common.
You are only as secure as the anchor that holds you.
You are only as secure as the anchor that holds any boat near you.
But here’s the thing, for the most part, setting your anchor happens when conditions are calm. And you will rely on it to handle changing conditions or a storm. No captain wants to reset their anchor during a storm. It’s dangerous.
If you are feeling Weary by Wednesday, it might be time to have a conversation about your anchor. Is it reliable? Will it hold?
This hope we hold as the utterly reliable anchor for our souls, fixed in the very certainty of God himself in Heaven, where Jesus has already entered on our behalf (Hebrews 6:19-20 Phillips)
I would love to pray with you or share with you how Jesus is the best in anchors, send me a note.
