What if I’m not happy or thankful this Thanksgiving?

It’s real.

Because life happens, and life can be anything but fair.

When hopes and prayers have been crushed.

When inconsolable and raw feelings overwhelm, and it’s as though there is no one who could possibly understand the pain and grief inside.

When getting through the day, any day, is an emotional challenge, how do we deal with a day which has been set aside to be happy and thankful?

I don’t think I’m the only one who has passed or is passing through seasons of life where gratefulness is not my first emotion. I can’t be the first person, or the last to be Weary by Wednesday, and weary of this time of year.

All around us are hurting people, struggling with getting through their day and the coming holidays.

Be patient.

Be kind.

Pray. Pray. Pray.

And remember, we are never alone. No matter our grief or burden, we are never alone. God our Father has sent Jesus, His son, and the Holy Spirit, His Comforter. (see John 15:26)

WE ARE NEVER ALONE, and He understands our grief and burdens, always.

…Because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

Be where and who you are today, it’s alright!

Thanks for sharing your Wednesday with me. I am praying fervently for those I know, and those I don’t know who are hurting this season. Hugs!
