I have called you by name was my mantra while I healed from my abusive marriage (from Isaiah 43). In fact I named my blog “Called by Name” because how we identify ourselves is crucial to our healing process.
Abusers control us with the names they give us…useless, unlovable, ugly, undesirable. Those are a few of given to me. But these lies must be changed by truth. God loves us so much and His desire for our wellbeing is so overwhelming that when we tap into His truth about who we are, our healing will be underway.
The next several Memory Monday Verses will focus on the names God has given us. Memorizing scripture is one of the best ways to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and replace the tapes of abuse in our minds.
For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, 1 Thessalonians 1:4
