I watched the tail end of Wheel of Fortune last night and had a good chuckle when Pat Zajak ranted a bit about what he wasn’t seeing in 2019. Things like jet packs and other futuristic things that just haven’t happened to our daily lives yet.
I’m guessing he has a maid, because I think a robot cleaning my floors is pretty futuristic, but honestly, I can see where he might be coming from. My personal futuristic notion comes from the Jetsons…a window opens and the food appears instantly. No cooking, no clean up, easier than going out to eat on a busy Wednesday night!
What’s yours? Do you have a futuristic idea that you would have thought would be a daily reality by 2019?
I’m sure we all have at least one or two. Besides instant gourmet food, I thought that we might have world peace and banished domestic violence by now also.
As I head into 2019, I’m looking to the future with hope. Hope for peace in families that are afflicted by domestic violence. Strength for victims to get free, and the resources they will need to do so. Stamina for single parents as they navigate the life of a survivor. And wisdom for the rest of us to reach out, to see those around us in need and minister to one another with love and grace.
That’s it.
My futuristic 2019 dream.
There may not be any jet packs, but we can overcome domestic violence one family at a time.
“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. Luke 8:16-17 (NIV)
Thanks for sharing your Wednesday with me. My prayers for each of you are for a blessed and courageous New Year.
